Opportunities and Challenges from Regional Trade Agreements under the New World Order
In this seminar held on 29 April 2024, Dr Lili Yan Ing, Lead Advisor (Southeast Asia Region) at the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, discussed the global economic shift, and the significance of regional trade agreements for ASEAN and Hong Kong in deepening economic ties with other countries and injecting impetus into the trade and investment environment.

About Dr Lili Yan Ing
Dr Lili Yan Ing is a Lead Advisor (Southeast Asia Region) at the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, and Secretary General of the International Economic Association. She served as Lead Advisor to the Minister of Trade of Indonesia from 2017–2019 and Senior Advisor on Trade and Investment at the President’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia.
About Professor Heiwai Tang
Professor Heiwai Tang is Victor and William Fung Professor in Economics, Director of the Asia Global Institute, as well as the Associate Dean (External Relations) of Executive Education of HKU Business School. He has been a consultant to the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the United Nations, and the Asian Development Bank. His research interests span a wide range of theoretical and empirical topics in international trade, with a specific focus on production networks, global value chains, and China.
